Planning to visit with a camera? Please review our Photography Policy first. Professional photo sessions must be approved and reserved at least two weeks in advance.

Parking is free and located on-site. Please follow signage to parking areas.
PowellsWood has two parking lots: a lower lot and an upper lot. Upon arrival, please proceed to the lower lot. If this section is full, head back towards the upper green lot located near the entrance off of S Dash Point Road. Please note that the upper lot is a lawn and can therefore be wet during inclement weather.
Large vehicles (trucks, vans, and buses) must park in the upper green lot.
Disabled Parking Spaces: Two disabled parking spaces are located in the lower lot near the accessible garden path.

Powellswood garden includes a combination of stairs, gravel paths, lawn paths, sloped landscaping, and rocky trails within the Nature Preserve. Please note that some areas of the garden are not accessible with a wheelchair; the Woodland & Moss Garden, Spring Garden, and House Garden are all accessible via wheelchair.

PowellsWood offers guided tours for groups of 10 or more. Tours are expertly facilitated by staff and include information about the garden’s creation, plants of interest, gardening tips, and more. Group Tours must be reserved at least two weeks in advance. To start a Group Tour reservation, visit this page.

Reservations are required for parties of 15 or more. PowellsWood requires two weeks advance notice for all group visits. To schedule a group visit, email admin@powellswood.org.

Please refrain from the following during your visit:
● Walking in garden beds and planted areas
● Picking plants or flowers and climbing trees
● Running or jogging in the gardens
● Sunbathing
● Photography or attire that is adult in nature and/or could be considered inappropriate or offensive
● Feeding wildlife
● Cursing or yelling in the gardens
The following items are prohibited in our Gardens:
● Alcohol, smoking, e-cigarettes, vaping, and any illegal substance.
● Items that are disruptive to the guest experience or could pose a safety concern, including, but not limited to: drones, remote airplanes, balls, frisbees, kites, or other sports equipment, bicycles and other recreational devices.
● Gatherings or receptions that have not received prior approval.
● Weddings in the garden are unavailable for booking at this time.

The easiest way to reach PowellsWood is by car. PowellsWood is conveniently located off of I-5
in south Puget Sound. The garden is just 30 minutes from Seattle and 20 minutes from Tacoma.
From Seattle:
Travel southbound on I-5. Take exit 147 and turn right onto S 272nd Street. Turn left onto Pacific Highway South and continue for 2 miles until you reach S Dash Point Road. Take a right onto S Dash Point Road. PowellsWood will be on the right in approximately 1 mile.
From Tacoma:
Travel northbound on I-5. Take exit 143 for S 320th Street toward Federal Way. Turn left onto S 320th Street and continue for 1 mile. Then turn right onto Pacific Highway South and continue for 1.5 miles. Take a left onto S Dash Point Road. PowellsWood will be on the right in approximately 1 mile.
